When will GTA 5 be released ?

Grand Theft Auto V

Many rumors are circulating on the web about the release of Grand Theft Auto V, but it definitely seems that it won’t be released for 2011. Rockstar Games hadn’t confirm the release date and GTA 5 should need more time to be finished. Moreover it’s the most expected video game ever and it’s important to remind that the last major Take Two’s video game  has been released 3 years ago.

Whereas Rockstar Games has released two major addons to Grand Theft Auto IV, the franchise said nothing about their future video games, excepted that a new video game was in development. The reason of that rumor telling that Grand Theft Auto V would be released for late 2011 is due to the fact that the contracts of some major employees working on that project are ending in early 2012. But those key people working on GTA 5 could renew their contracts with Rockstar too, so it could be released later in 2012.

We would hear some GTA V news at the next E3, but nothing is fixed. Anyway whatever the future brings, GTA 5 would be released early 2012. Stay tuned!

Take 2 released it’s financial results recently, and as expected in a year where they released one of the most popular games for the calendar year, Red Dead Redemption, they did pretty well.   There’s been a lot of speculation regarding when Take 2 and Rockstar would release the next GTA 5.  The video game analyst Michael Pachter thought they were going to release in 2010 first, and has since moved that estimation back to 2011.  More recently he stated that the new GTA 5 must ship before Q4 2012.  While no official release date has been given for GTA 5, Michael Pachter is at it again.  This time the analyst thinks that if GTA 5 were to be released in 2011, it could be the best selling game of all time.

The problem with delays of games like L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 is that they distract the key members of the Grand Theft Auto team.  While we are optimistic about both games following the success of Red Dead Redemption, neither is likely to sell more than 5 million units, while the next GTA may become the best selling game of all time, selling over 20 million units.  We think that Take-Two management must strike a balance, and must ensure that work on the company’s most valuable property takes precedence over all other titles.”  the analyst stated.
